Mr. Alex Kiesel's martial arts training began in 1978 in Shaolin Kempo. In
1982, Mr. Kiesel began to study under the direction of Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming
in Shaolin Long Fist, Shaolin White Crane and Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan.
After receiving his instructor level from Dr. Yang, Mr. Kiesel was invited to
Poland where he taught a two week intensive training course to over 75
martial arts students and instructors.
At the 1989 U.S. National Chinese Martial Arts Competitions, Mr. Kiesel won first place in Tai Chi form and
Pushing Hands. Since 1994, Mr. Kiesel has been selected to judge at the
U.S. National Chinese Martial Arts Competitions and was selected as a
regional advisor to the U.S. Kung Fu Federation. In addition to studying
with Dr. Yang over the years, Mr. Kiesel has also studied with several
renowned masters including Liang, Shou-Yu in Simplified Tai Chi and 12 Animal
Form Xingyiquan, Grandmaster Li, Mao-Ching in Shaolin Long Fist and
Grandmaster Wang, Ju-Rong in Long Fist (Cha Chuan).
The Andover Branch of Yang's Martial Arts Association (YMAA) was opened by Mr. Kiesel in 1988 and relocated to
its current location in North Andover in 2001 and now back in Andover inside Yang's Fitness Center.
Mr. Kiesel brings over 28 years of experience to the instruction and
supervision of all classes using the proven methods learned from Dr. Yang.
He is a Charter member of the Rotary Club of Andover.
